Importance of Strength and Conditioning

August 31, 2020 By adrian gomez

People can sometimes look over the importance of strength and conditioning if they are not actively playing a sport. Truth is, strength training should be done by everyone! Physical fitness plays such a huge role in your overall wellness. Strength training has been shown to not only increase strength, but also increase mood and energy as well. Even if you are not playing a sport, throughout the day you will have to pick something up, open doors or jars, walk up stairs, etc. If you are not regularly physically active even these small things can be tough on your body. Your muscles get weaker, your joints get stiff, your body becomes fatigued easily. When looking at the importance of strength and conditioning, don’t forget to look at how it could also minimize loss of physical dependence and reduce risk of diseases such as osteoporosis, which comes with aging. You may have a job that requires you to lift or be on your feet, so by increasing your body strength outside of work, you train your body to be able to do that job safely. Strength and conditioning is not just for people who play a sport, it is beneficial for all ages.
