Below is the top 10 list of reasons why people don't exercise
(mouseover the PT-Connections Response box):
10. Apathy — "Don't care to"
PT-Connections Response:

Everyone should care — their quality of life may depend on it.

9. Lack of understanding of the benefits/ "Low Priority"
PT-Connections Response:

With a little understanding and education from a qualified health professional exercise can become a "High Priority" in your daily life.

8. Embarassment/Social Discomfort
PT-Connections Response:

Functional exercises can be done alone at home to avoid embarassment or find a good friend to be your "exercise buddy".

7. Injury/Health Problems/Chronic Physcial Discomfort
PT-Connections Response:

Functional exercises are always meant to prevent injuries (see section on functional exercise guidelines). Get clearance from your physician before starting an exercise program and seek a qualified physical therapist to assist with any chronic pain problems.

6. "Boredom"/Lack of variety
PT-Connections Response:

The functional exercises provided on this site are just a sample of the limitless variety of safe and fun exercises that can be performed.

5. Distance/Inconvenience
PT-Connections Response:

No travel required and no inconvenience by working out in the comfort of your home.

4. Expense of equipment, clothes, membership
PT-Connections Response:

No equipment necessary, bodyweight exercises are ideal for natural movement. No gym membership needed for home exercises. Wear any comfortable clothing you already own.

3. Discouraging/Not enjoyable/Bad experience with Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
PT-Connections Response:

Find an encouraging exercise partner or hire a motivating personal trainer/physical therapist to encourage and motivate. These exercises are enjoyable because they are easy to do and can be individual. Always start gradually to decrease potential soreness.

2. No Energy/ "I'm too tired"/Lack of discipline/ "Too hard... there's got to be an easier way!"
PT-Connections Response:

The exercises will energize you and prevent tiredness. Discipline comes with having a fun, simple, and functional exercise program that you will want to do. The functional exercise program is easy for almost anyone.

And the #1 reason (drum roll)......

1. "No time in my busy schedule."
PT-Connections Response:

These exercises require minimal time commitment for maximal therapeutic benefit. You will find time to do these movements because they are fun and effective.
